Most of the time people tend to associate jewellery with metal like gold silver, etc; they also associated with diamonds, and flashy expensive stones. They believe that 'real' jewellery is made of precious materials. This is not true because I believe that good jewellery can be made out of any materials, whether it is from recycle material or precious metals. The designer Silvia Beccaria makes use of non-recycled, anonymous, marginal materials like PVC, rubber, plastic, latex, polyurethane. Jewellery like this allows one to express your personality and style, where at times the standard commercial jewellery to be more of wealth status, religious purposes, and social status. Jewellery that includes other material are seen more as today's fashion trend and its very creative and arty.
The reason why I chose this perception is because when ever I talk to people about jewellery, the first thing that they think of is expensive flashy metals and stones. They believe that contemporary jewellery is cheap unless it has precious metal and stones. This I would want to change of people that think like that, because I believe that contemporary jewellery is so beautiful and it is able to complement many with there personalities, and it reflects alot of today's society and what we are.
